Family days out in Bristol
It’s not always easy to discover an enjoyable day out for the family; especially when it comes to finding something to suit everybodys’ tastes! Luckily, Bristol and it’s surrounding areas are a great destination to head to when you’re looking for a wonderful day out to enjoy with the kids; whether you want something action-packed and exciting, or something more relaxed and slower paced, you can be sure you’ll find it here!
Perhaps the biggest and most obvious choice is Bristol Zoo. After all, who doesn’t love animals? There are a huge array of different species to see which will delight everyone, from grandma to toddler. With some of the animals, it’s possible to get up close and personal which is really exciting for the kids! Depending on when you go, there’s a whole range of seasonal entertainment on offer, too, such as theater days; so you can make the most of your admission price. You can easily spend a whole day at the Zoo, exploring all of the areas and taking part in the various activities on offer there. The entry price is a little steep when you’re taking your whole family, but for the amount of time you can spend there, it’s worth paying. It also has plenty of useful amenities on offer, such as baby changing facilities, a restaurant and cafe, and an enormous car park with plenty of overflow, so whether you drive your own or hire a car, you can rest assured knowing there’ll be somewhere to park.
If you’re looking for something a little more historical, then Clifton suspension bridge might be the one for you. With a dedicated visitors center on one side of the bridge, you can view it’s history and learn more about it before you take a stroll over it and take in the magnificent views across the Avon gorge. It might only take up and hour or two of your time, but if you have adventurous little ones, they’ll love it! Add to this the educational value, and the fact that it’s free, and what have you got to lose?
For a slower-paced option, there’s the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery; hosting an enormous range of exhibits that tell the story of the evolution of the world. Three floors mean that there’s plenty to see and do here, and so much to learn. There are many hands-on exhibits so the kids can get stuck in, and for the littler ones there’s even a play area! Add to this the activity days that often run and you can easily spend your whole day here. The museum is again completely free, so you’re getting a great value day out that everybody will love without hurting your pocket.
Wherever you go and whatever you choose to do, you’re sure to have a great time in Bristol!
