Music is one of the only art forms which can unite people from all over the world. Although culturally, certain styles of music may be more prevalent in certain countries or regions, our modern culture has made music one of the most accessible mediums out there. It is also interesting to see the venues which have been developed specifically for musical events. Since 1980’s stadium rock began, more and more large scale venues have begun to appear, but that isn’t to detract away from other smaller venues which are equally impressive in their own right. Here are a few venues renowned for their superior sound, appearance and ability to attract popular artists.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre- Colorado
Colorado in general is renowned for its breath-taking landscapes, and mountainous terrain. The Red Rocks stadium encapsulates all of the magic the mountainous backdrop provides. It holds just under 10,000 people, so whilst not being necessarily the largest stadium around, it is definitely large enough to generate a frenzied atmosphere. Many sound engineers also attest to the fact that many outdoor concerts have a better sound as there are fewer objects for the music to bounce off or be absorbed by. Even bands as big as the Beatles have played at Red Rocks, but in the early 1970’s there was a 5 year ban on music concerts taking place there after some unprecedented trouble arose at a JethroTull concert.
Another world famous concert venue, but this one is strictly indoors. The Columbia Halle is well known for its astounding acoustics and ability to attract headline acts. From the outside, the venue doesn’t appear to be that remarkable, but once you step into the venue and into the depths of the music, you realise that this truly is a great venue. The audience can choose to stand at the front of the stage, or even take up a different view from the raised balcony. Outside of the venue, you will be sure to find plenty of things to do in the German capital. An day out here is definitely worth planning and a great tip is to purchase tickets for this one in advance. If you are worried about purchasing items overseas then it is recommended you open a trading facility in order to do so in a safe environment with a great exchange rate. Plenty of private banks in the UK offer this service but for further reading click here.
Le Grand Rex: Paris
It is the largest venue in Paris, and arguably one of the best, if not the best place to go and watch a concert. It is a landmark in terms of its Art Deco style architecture and when illuminated at night, it appears to be something that would be present in a 1950’s New York. Aside from being a cinema, it is also a music venue and has hosted big names such as The Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead. If you can’t find a band that suits your tastes, the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival takes place over six days in April and attracts visitors from all corners of the globe.
