Getting The Best Out Of A Barcelona Stag Weekend
More and more groups of men are shunning the traditional stag party destinations of Bournemouth, Blackpool and Brighton and are instead heading to sunny European cities such as Barcelona for their pre-nuptial shenanigans. The fact that people are getting married later in life now means they have more disposable income to spend on something a bit unique. Most people also want something different from their stag weekend nowadays. Whereas before it was all about strip clubs and cheap beer, guys now want something special out of their time together, something really unique.
Barcelona presents the best of both worlds. Not only can guys enjoy plenty of San Miguel and some top nightlife but they can also take advantage of amazing food, architecture, a whole host of activities and good weather. A lot of groups on a Barcelona stag weekend tend to make for the touristy La Rambla or the clubs of Barceloneta, missing out on what this great city has to offer. But there are definitely ways to avoid the traps.
By day, a tour of the world-famous Nou Camp is a great way to get a dose of footballing history whilst avoiding the crowds of the city centre, being located in a picturesque suburb in the North West. A hop across to the town of Granollers, twenty or so miles to the North of the city, reveals the Kartodrom Catalunya, an amazing outdoor go-karting track where you can go solo or even buddy up with one of your fellow staggers in the dual-pilot kart.
In terms of activities to enjoy once the sun goes down, you should escape the westernised tapas bars and dine how the locals do. The Barrio Gotico or Gothic Quarter is a good place to start, many quiet squares lined with quirky restaurants and bars offering up amazing local fayre, often to the soundtrack of street musicians. If fish is your thing then Barceloneta offers up a huge variety of eateries serving fresh, locally caught delicacies. Try 7 Portes, home to reportedly the city’s best paella, the perfect dish for sharing between large groups.
Barcelona is legendary for its nightlife and most of the clubs remain open well into the early hours. BeCool, tucked away just off Avenida Diagonal, is memorable for its revolving dance floor and is frequented by lots of gorgeous local girls, always a hit with stag groups in the know! Macarena Club is centrally located just off La Rambla and is as intimate as they come. But don’t let that put you off, because the atmosphere and quality of music on a busy night is hard to beat. For an open air clubbing experience La Terrrazza on Montjuic is pretty unbeatable. The alfresco ambience brings out all of the lovely ladies, something for stag parties to take note of!
The Stag Company organise unique and memorable stag party packages in over 80 UK and European destinations, Barcelona being one of the most popular. They also run an online shop offering stag do costumes, novelties and accessories.
